Our son is a Marine stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina

A tranquil and oh so quiet time to stroll the grounds. See the bunches of Spanish Moss hanging from the trees.

Our marine son and his wife live in New Bern, NC.

Yes my son is a strong kind of guy, but back when I was diagnosed with MS I tried to keep it from him to protect him. Like any mom I didn't want him to worry. He was a preteen and he had enough on his plate trying to figure out who he he was himself.

Watching these ducks guard their ducklings reminds me of how important it is to protect our young.

When I told him about having Multiple Sclerosis he was quite angry with me for not sharing the diagnosis from the start. It is a mothers instinct to protect their young from hurt and pain. I new I was not going to die from MS, but I didn't know if he would understand that.
Now as an adult he understands my MS and how it affects my daily living. One day when he has children of his own he may understand why parents protect their young from hurt and pain.
